Our Products
Olivine Sand
Olivine is one of the most common minerals in the earth, and is a major rock forming mineral. Despite this, good specimens and large crystals are uncommon and sought after. Only few localities yield large examples of this mineral, although small and microscopic grains are found worldwide. Olivine is also found in meteorites, and large grains have been reported in many of them.
Magnesite
Magnesite is a magnesium carbonate mineral with a chemical composition of MgCO3. It is named after the presence of magnesium in its composition. Magnesite usually forms during the alteration of magnesium-rich rocks or carbonate rocks by metamorphism or chemical weathering ,Magnesite occurs as veins in and an alteration product of ultramafic rocks, serpentinite and other magnesium rich rock types in both contact and regional metamorphic terrains. These magnesites are often cryptocrystalline and contain silica in the form of opal or chert.
Magnesite is used as a refractory material, a catalyst and filler in the production of synthetic rubber, and a material in the preparation of magnesium chemicals and fertilizers. For detailed physical properties, see carbonate mineral (table).
Advantages
The major advantages of olivine
Reusability
fire resistance
resistance to high pressures
low risk of slagging
Industrial Usages
Use of olivine in industry
In industry, olivine is used to produce heat-resistant glass and refractory materials. This mineral is also used for the production of iron ore pellets and as a catalyst in wood gasification processes. Thanks to its high heat storage capacity, olivine also increases the power-to-weight ratio in lithium-ion batteries and is suitable for night storage heating systems. In the foundry industry, olivine sand is used as moulding sand which, in contrast to quartz sand, does not pose a risk of silicosis to workers. Due to its beneficial effects to fire resistance, the construction materials industry also uses olivine as an additive in building materials.
